Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, E.T Mensah has petitioned the party over his defeat in the just ended parliamentary primaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to him, his campaign team has gathered adequate evidence to prove that the vote was rigged in favour of his opponent.

“There was massive rigging; tomb printed ballot papers were given to people to put into the ballot box so I want to party to investigate” he stressed.

The veteran politician suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of one of his own protégé and presidential staffer, Samuel George Nartey in the just ended primaries.

The defeat of E.T. Mensah who has been in Parliament since 1996 is considered one of the biggest upsets.

But in an interview with Adom News, the NDC guru believes some mafia in the party worked for his defeat.

“I received a lot of distress calls because most of my supporters were disenfranchised and there was nothing i could do about it” he added.

The Ningo-Prampram MP indicated that some people purported to be supporters of Sam George at Ningo were allowed to vote without any verification.

“They blocked access routes with machomen were all over the place and prevented my supporters from voting”

E.T Mensah said he has sent the petition the party’s General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia through the Greater Accra regional executives to investigate the matter.
