2018 World Cup: Black Stars beat Comoros to qualify for the league stage!

The Black Stars have beaten Comoros by 2-0 to qualify to the group stage of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers at the Baba Yara Stadium.

A first half free kick from Wakasso Mubarak beat agile Comoros goalkeeper Salim Ben Boina in the 18th minute to register the first goal of the game.

The tempo of the game took to a higher velocity after the goal, forcing defender Jonathan Mensah out with a hamstring injury.

The Stars were forced into an early substitution with Daniel Amartey coming on to pair John Boye to neutralize the attacking threat of Comoros.

With six minutes to end the first half, diminutive winger Solomon Asante also took a knock and was replaced by defender Jeffery Schlupp.

The last quarter of the game became difficult for both teams as the rain set in making it hard for the players to control the game.

Comoros made some dangerous incursions on some few occasions but were replied just five minutes to end proceedings when Jordan Ayew pounced on a rebound to place the ball in the far corner to register the second goal on the day.

This victory means the Black Stars will join twenty other countries for a draw for the final qualifier to Russia 2018.
