NPP parliamentary candidate sued for stealing fertilisers

The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has dragged the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Hemang Lower Denkyira constituency Bright Wireko Brobbey and 17 others to court for allegedly stealing fertilisers belonging to the board.

According to COCOBOD, the parliamentary candidate stole the fertiliers and shared it to NPP delegates prior to the party’s primaries in June.

In the writ, the district cocoa officer in the area was mentioned to have connived with Wireko Brobbey to distribute the cocoa to the delegates to induce them to vote for him.

A Cape Coast court has granted bail to the candidate and the 17 others in various sum, Starr News understands.

They have been charged with aiding and abetment of crime and stealing.

According to the COCOBOD, the stolen fertilisers were over 1000 bags and were distributed to wrong beneficiaries some of whom do not own farms.
