“I stand here representing a core group of committed, dedicated and responsible old boys whom 17 years ago walked into this great school in search for education, but in our search we found more than just education. We found life and how best to live it,” Ocansey said shortly before he and his first batch of executives were sworn into office.

“We left Accra Academy not walking, but flying into many institutions both far and near into the world of work and family lives. The lifelong lessons we learnt from this school have really paid off in many unimaginable ways and we are back here to say thank you to the school which has made us who we are,” he added.

He pledged the association’s commitment to help support the development of the school and improve the high standards the school has set for itself.

He called on other year groups to emulate the gesture shown by the millennium year group so that in the end Accra Academy will be the biggest beneficiary.

The Alumni also donated a Beatrice Lokko Memorial Shield to the school in memory of the late headmistress whose leadership credential was unmatched.

Assistant head master Abbey Ashong who was overwhelmed by the donation said if all year groups will emulate the gesture by the Millenium Year group, Accra Academy will neither lack nor depend on government for survival.

According to him, the feeding fees for the school has been in arrears for two terms, a situation he noted was having a disastrous consequence on the school’s administration.

Like Oliver Twist he called for more support from old boys of the school in order to limit the school’s dependence on government.

Ten executives were inducted into office by Mr RO Solomon, a renowned lawyer, an old student and current Vice Board Chair of the school.

The executives are President, Frank Ocansey, Vice Chairman, Nii Armah Ashong Katai, Secretary, Nii Adjei Ashong, Vice Secretary Kweku Brace, Financial Secretary Enoch Asante, Vice Financial Secretary Wilson Duffuor , Organiser Abbey, Vice Organiser Jude Awadzi  with advisors Israel Nornyibey and Perseus Agbemeve.
