Besides, the University of Science and Technology KNUST Kwame Nkrumah, a number of robbers with some wielding pump action guns in Kumasi, stormed the No Weapon Hostel.
The robbers robbed the occupants of 30 electronic tablets, 50 laptops, 60 mobile phones and an unspecified amount of money.
The robbers held the students hostage, for more than 1 hour, during the period they came into rooms and snatched the money, and the other items, to save their lives some of the students jumped out of the 1st and 2nd floors of the hostel’s ground and they got some bad injuries.
Meanwhile, since the beginning of the year, similar attacks are said to have happened in10 of the 100 hostels dotted around the KNUST, the last Thursday incident has been the 2nd to have happened at the No Weapon Hostel since January this year.
Some of the students, sharing their bad experience, shed tears, told that there was only one security man guarding the hostel with 52 rooms, during the latest attack.
They added that robbers tied the security man, and took all the expensive things, so, to protect the lives of innocent student government should increase the number of security men.
For the month of January starting of this year, approximately ten 10 hostels has been become the victim of armed robbery attacks, security concerns become necessary for the protection of the students.
