August 17 Chicago IL: The Church of the Ghanaian Community’s Annual Picnic came off at the Jackson Park 6100 S. Stony Island yesterday August 16 2014. Members and invited guest were treated to a variety Ghanaian dishes including Waatse, Jollof Rice,Fufu, Goat and Lamb soup and many others. There were games such as Ludo, Tug-of-war, soccer and camaraderie amongst attendees. In a Tug-of-war competition, the Men were defeated by the ladies who had some help from a few men who decided to side with their mothers. The men vowed to beat the women next year! The Chicago area Pentecost Church Men’s Soccer team’s opponents in a prearranged league match did not show up so the Church of the Ghanaian Community organized a ragtag team to play them. In the ensuing match, the Ghana Community Church surprisingly led 3-1 at half time before ending the game at 4-4 draw.
Members also Honored Elder to Betty Agyeman by presenting her with a cake to mark her retirement.
