December 1 2013 Chicago Illinois: Former Vice-President and Treasurer of the Ghana National Council of Metropolitan Chicago, GNC, Ebenezer Antwi-Nsiah, won the Presidential elections held a few minutes ago with 6 votes. He beat off a fierce challenge by the current Treasurer, Joseph Henry Baffoe. Baffoe had 5 votes. Reliable sources informed that the other contestant for the Presidency, Paa Kwesi Sam, realizing that the votes were not there for him to win, broke a last minute deal with Nsiah and got the nod for the Vice-President position. There were a total of eleven votes at stake.

The President-elect, Ebenezer Antwi-Nsiah, will nominate other members of his cabinet for the GNC’S approval. Ms. Evelyn Mensah and Nana Kwame Frimpong who were nominated unopposed for the positions of Treasurer and Sergeant-at-arm respectively had ten votes each. The elections were free and fair.

The elections were conducted by Reverend Emmanuel Amonoo, Resident Pastor of the Church of the Ghanaian Community of Chicago and Simon Addo, a member of the central committee of the GNC.
