The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) is feverishly preparing for its Second National Choral Festival competition which has been slated for Sunday, November 17th 2013 at the Central Lecture Theatre of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi.
The competition will bring together eleven (11) regional choral champions to compete for the top three, which winners will receive wonderful prize packages. The competing Regional champions are the Passionate choir representing Central Region, Melodious Voices of Volta Choir- Volta Region, OLA Choir from the Upper East Region, Saint Anthony Basic School Choir, Upper West Region, Sakumono Community Choir, Tema Region, the Akosombo Youth Choir, Eastern Region, OLA Cathedral Choir representing the Northern Region, Amemreso Youth Choir from the Ashanti Region, Adehyemma Sacred Group of the Brong Ahafo Region, Western Forties Choir, Western Region and Rehoboth Temple Choir representing the Greater Accra Region.
The National Choral Gala rounds up preparations to the International event.
The emerged winners will represent Ghana at next year’s African Choral Festival scheduled for the 29th and 30th of March at the National Theatre, Accra and the Cape Coast Castle respectively. The GTA believes the introduction of the choral competition on the tourism calendar has enormous business prospects and will also help promote national unity. The theme for this year’s festival is ‘Celebrating Culture through Choral Music’’.
