Prez Mahama Appoints Nana Oye Bampoe Addo as Deputy Chief of Staff

President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Nana Oye Bampoe Addo as Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of administration. This appointment is a testament to Nana Oye’s impressive credentials and track record as a human rights lawyer and advocate.

With 32 years of experience in human rights law, litigation, and solicitor’s practice, Nana Oye has established herself as a leading voice in the fight for gender equality, children’s rights, and social protection. Her work has spanned international, regional, and national levels, and she has served as the Africa Regional Coordinator for the Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative.

Nana Oye’s achievements are numerous and impressive. She established the Human Rights Advocacy Centre in 2008 and has led advocacy efforts for the promulgation of several key Acts, including the Children’s Act and the Domestic Violence Act. She has also mobilized human rights NGOs and led missions to monitor human rights violations and hold the government accountable.

As a Cabinet Minister from 2013 to 2017, Nana Oye spearheaded the creation of a strong legal and policy framework for gender, children, and social protection. She has received numerous awards for her work, including the Vera Chirwa Award for Human Rights in Africa and recognition as the fourth most influential African woman.
