In 2022, the Aje Festival in Ile Ife, Nigeria, reached new heights of grandeur with the esteemed presence of King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, Ga Mantse and President of the Ga Traditional Council. As the exclusive Guest of Honour, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II sat in state beside the Ooni of Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, in the forecourt of Ile Ife’s magnificent palace.
The Ooni took the opportunity to enlighten his distinguished guest on the profound significance of the annual Aje Festival, which showcases Yoruba traditions through prayer sessions, dynamic dance parades, and direct financial support to the community. A notable highlight of the festival was the Ooni’s ceremonial distribution of money to his people, symbolizing his commitment to their welfare.
King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II was accompanied by a delegation of prominent figures, including several chiefs and dignitaries from the Ga Traditional Council. The festival drew a vast crowd of attendees, all eager to experience the rich cultural heritage and witness the unity between the Ga and Yoruba traditions.
