Ghana recently celebrated a historic presidential inauguration, marked by pomp, pageantry, and a massive turnout of people from all walks of life. The event was attended by notable figures, including Burkina Faso’s leader and Amina Jane Mohammed, the UN Deputy Secretary-General.
As someone who has witnessed several presidential inaugurations, I can confidently say that this one was truly special. The excitement and enthusiasm of the crowd were palpable, despite the intense heat and blazing sun. The ceremony was beautifully executed, showcasing Ghana’s democratic maturity to the world.
The inauguration marked a historic moment for Ghana, with President John Dramani Mahama and Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang taking office. Opoku-Agyemang made history as the first female Vice President of Ghana, a milestone that has been celebrated across the country.
As part of the inauguration team, we ensured that Amina Mohammed’s participation was captured in photos and scripts. We took on additional protocol responsibilities to ensure a smooth show, and it was rewarding to see our hard work pay off.
The experience of shaking hands with President Mahama and being spotted on television and social media was surreal, but it also reminded me of the importance of hard work and dedication. With the inauguration behind us, the real work lies ahead for Ghana, and I am excited to see what the future holds.
