Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Ghana’s outgoing Vice President, and his wife Samira, joined the congregation of Lighthouse Chapel International for a special 31st Night crossover service on New Year’s Eve. The event, held at the church’s headquarters in North Kaneshie, Accra, was a historic moment, marking the first time a high-ranking government official had attended the church’s service.
Bishop Dag Heward-Mills, the church’s founder and leader, warmly welcomed Dr. Bawumia and his entourage, expressing his joy at having the Vice President and his wife in attendance. Dr. Bawumia, who contested the 2024 presidential elections, took the opportunity to thank Ghanaians for their support and prayers during the election period.
Despite losing the election to former President Mahama, Dr. Bawumia remained hopeful for the future, stating, “I know and I believe that God has a plan for me for a greater and better future.” He also expressed gratitude to God for guiding and protecting him throughout his tenure as Vice President.
The event was a celebration of faith, hope, and unity, with Dr. Bawumia and his wife serving food to the congregation as part of the crossover celebration. The Vice President’s presence was a blessing to the church, and his message of hope and gratitude resonated with the audience.
