John Dramani Mahama, the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), received a truly royal welcome at the Ga Mantse’s palace in the Greater Accra Region. The visit was part of Mahama’s #Mahama4Change2024 campaign, and he was grateful for the warm reception from King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, his chiefs, queen mothers, wulomei, and opinion leaders.
The visit was an opportunity for Mahama to emphasize his commitment to partnering with traditional authorities to promote Ghana’s rich heritage festivals. He believes that these festivals are not just celebrations, but also opportunities to promote cultural tourism, boost local economies, and showcase Ghana’s heritage to the world.
Mahama also reiterated his plan to increase the representation of traditional authorities within Ghana’s decentralized structures, as outlined in the NDC’s 2024 #ResettingGhana Manifesto. He believes that empowering traditional leaders to take a more active role in governance can create a more inclusive and effective system that honors Ghana’s cultural roots.
The visit to the Ga Mantse’s palace was a significant moment in Mahama’s campaign, as it demonstrated his commitment to working with traditional authorities to uplift Ghanaian communities. As he moves forward in his campaign, Mahama is excited about the possibilities ahead and looks forward to collaborating with traditional authorities nationwide.
