A recent video circulating on social media has caught the attention of former President John Mahama. The video shows a security man employed by the University of Ghana, proudly displaying a bag of rice and a bottle of oil given to him by the MP for Ayawasu West Woguon constituency, Seyram Alhassan.
However, what caught Mahama’s attention was the security man’s bold declaration that despite the gifts, he would still vote according to his conscience. Mahama was impressed by the security man’s principled stance and warned those harassing him to leave him alone.
Mahama’s warning was clear: “You try to buy his vote, he says I won’t sell my vote. Anyway, we are going to win whatever you do to him, if you sack him, we will reinstate him.” This statement underscores Mahama’s commitment to upholding the principles of democracy and protecting the rights of citizens.
The incident highlights the ongoing debate about vote-buying and the influence of money in Ghanaian politics. As the country prepares for the upcoming general elections, Mahama’s warning serves as a reminder of the importance of protecting the integrity of the electoral process.
