Normally the celebrations start with a special early morning prayer in mosques and large gathering and prayers at open-air spaces but that has been scaled down due to the current COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.
About the GNC.
The GNC evolved in the 1960’s when Ghanaian immigrants in the Chicago area formed a student union to cater for their peculiar needs and aspirations. They decided to create a home base for themselves and others that migrated to Chicago. Presently the GNC is made up of 14 Ghanaian organizations and has emerged as the leading Ghanaian organization in the promotion of the beautiful Ghanaian culture and heritage in the Diaspora.
