The Housing Assistance Grant program is expanding to assist renters and property owners who have been heavily impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. he Cook County eviction moratorium ends on August 22, 2020, and the City of Chicago wants to ensure that renters are protected from any possible evictions. his is a $33 million relief program and provides eviction counseling for low-and moderate-income Chicago households. Applications will be accepted now through Monday, August 10, 2020 – 11:59 pm. Residents can apply online through the Chicago Housing Assistance Portal or in person at one of six community centers below.
Assistance from all programs is expected to be awarded through August and September. Rental assistance funding through the online portal will be awarded by a lottery system. For questions regarding the program, please call one of the Community Service Centers:
