Sixty-three members of the Presec-Legon Drug-Free Club have taken a significant step towards promoting a healthy and safe lifestyle among their peers. The Education and Prevention Department of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) certified these young individuals as Drug-Free Ambassadors on September 19, 2024.

The certification follows their active participation in Drug-Free Club activities and training on drug abuse prevention and advocacy campaigns during the 2023/2024 academic year. This initiative, spearheaded by NACOC’s Education and Prevention Department, aims to empower youth to become responsible members of their communities and the nation.

At a brief handing-over ceremony, Madam Stella Doku, patron of the Presec-Legon Drug-Free Club, urged members to dedicate themselves to club activities and build upon the achievements of previous executives. SNCO. Kamaldeen Awudu, head of the Education and Prevention Department of NACOC, emphasized the importance of positioning themselves for leadership roles to positively influence society.

The coordinators of the Drug-Free Club, NCO Sandra Abaka-Quansah and NCO Patrick Agyapong, encouraged past and present members to seek out positive ways to influence their peers and share knowledge on drug abuse prevention for the betterment of society.

NACOC’s vision is to become a reference drug law enforcement agency of excellence in Africa, and this initiative is a step towards achieving that goal. By empowering youth to become Drug-Free Ambassadors, NACOC hopes to reduce narcotic drugs in society and promote a healthier lifestyle.
