Former Sports Minister Nii Lante Vanderpuye has dropped a bombshell, alleging that corruption in Ghanaian football has escalated since Kwesi Nyantakyi’s tenure as Ghana Football Association (GFA) President.
Vanderpuye expressed concerns that despite efforts to combat corruption, the problem persists. The Anas exposé brought some accountability, but Vanderpuye believes it only scratched the surface.
Recalling his tenure, Vanderpuye highlighted his 2009 investigation into the GFA secretariat by the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO). He vowed to take similar action if given another chance.
Ghana’s football reputation faces international scrutiny due to corruption. To excel, the country must address these systemic issues and create a corruption-free environment.
