The Minister of Finance Dr Mohammed Amin Adam recently accompanied Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Minister for Works and Housing, to inspect the progress of new housing projects in Community 22, Tema. The project, executed by the Ghana Homeownership Fund, has already completed over 500 housing units in phases 1 and 2, which are now fully sold out ¹. Phase 3 is currently underway, with the Ministry of Finance releasing GHS94 million to support the initiative.
This significant investment is part of the government’s efforts to address the country’s housing deficit. The Ministry of Finance has pledged an additional GHS200 million to increase the number of housing units and support the new District Housing Initiative ¹. This initiative aims to provide affordable housing options for Ghanaians, promoting homeownership and community development.
The Ghana Homeownership Fund’s project in Tema is a shining example of the government’s commitment to addressing the country’s housing challenges. With the completion of phases 1 and 2, and the ongoing work on phase 3, this project is set to transform the lives of many Ghanaians, providing them with safe, affordable, and decent housing.
As the government continues to invest in affordable housing, Ghanaians can expect to see more initiatives like this in the future, promoting economic growth, social development, and improved living standards.
