In a bid to modernize tax administration and enhance revenue collection, the government is set to introduce a faceless assessment system, Minister of Finance, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam announced at a UK Town Hall meeting. The new system aims to increase tax compliance and simplify the tax filing process for citizens.
To ensure a smooth transition, the Ministry of Finance will launch a comprehensive education campaign in July to educate citizens about the new system. This move is part of the government’s broader strategy to improve tax administration and increase revenue collection.
Meanwhile, Member of Parliament for Ho Central, Benjamin Kpodo, has urged the government to intensify interventions to reduce the hardship faced by citizens, particularly dependants of the Livelihood Empowerment against Poverty (LEAP) program. He called for immediate and robust action to alleviate the suffering of LEAP beneficiaries.
In a similar vein, Member of Parliament for Ahafo Ano North, Suleman Adamu Sanid, advocated for a holistic approach to minimize poverty in the country. The government’s efforts to modernize tax administration and enhance revenue collection are expected to contribute to the overall goal of reducing poverty and improving the livelihoods of citizens.
