The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has announced an imminent debt collection exercise aimed at recovering all outstanding taxes owed to the state. In a statement, the Authority revealed that the exercise will encompass all categories of taxpayers, including public institutions with outstanding tax liabilities.
The GRA has urged all individuals and companies with outstanding arrears to settle their payments promptly, either by cash or cheque, at any of the twenty-three designated banks. The Authority has set this Friday as the deadline for payment, warning that it will employ all enforcement tools to retrieve tax debts that remain unpaid after that date.
This move is part of the GRA’s efforts to boost revenue mobilization and ensure compliance with tax laws. The Authority has emphasized that tax payment is a civic duty and a critical contribution to the development of the country.
Taxpayers are advised to take immediate action to avoid any penalties or legal action. The GRA has assured that its officials will be available to assist with the payment process and address any concerns or queries.
The debt collection exercise is expected to be rigorous, with the GRA determined to recover all outstanding taxes. The Authority has warned that failure to comply will result in enforcement measures, including legal action, fines, and penalties.
The GRA’s move is seen as a significant step towards enhancing tax compliance and revenue generation in Ghana. The Authority’s efforts aim to ensure that all taxpayers contribute their fair share to the national treasury, supporting the government’s development agenda and promoting economic growth.
