The donation began at the Accra Mall area through to Spanner and ended at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle.
Items like reusable nose masks, water, snacks like spring rolls, cupcakes and sobolo, drinks, coconut flakes and standard plate meals such as yam balls, jollof rice fried rice, vegetable mix.
Dubbed “Love on the Streets” (LOTS), the street campaign is “one of the development programs under the Butterfly Your World initiatives, aimed at alleviating streetism in Ghana by reaching out and showing love on the streets of Ghana, to minister the love of humanity, to these street dwellers every month”, said the Chief Butterfly Officer, BigGodwin Martey.

At the Kwame Nkrumah Circle, for instance, hundreds of people flogged to the scene to have their share of the love that was showered by BYW.
An excited Amina told Modernghana News that “I was saved today by this benevolence shown us today by these people. I was wondering the whole day what I would have eaten but thanks be to Allah help came our way”.
Jonathan whose job is to wipe cars screens for a little token and sometimes engage what he calls “side gig” was particularly elated that he would be able to save a little this week because he was able to a full packet of sachet water which will last him for a week.

“I am particularly happy that I got water, full bag and nose masks. I will not buy water for the next week as well as nose masks and this will help me make some savings for the next week.
“I can only say may God bless them for their help and replenish their time, energy and money back to them so they can help more people”, he added.
The Chief Butterfly Officer who in this case is the Chief Executive Officer explained to Modernghana News the BYW has three initiatives that the organization is pursuing.
Aside from the Love on the Streets, the other two are Rise to Walk (RAW) and Street to School (STS).
Mr Martey explained that the Rise to Walk is targeting people in a dire health crisis and would as a result, need interventions to sustain their health, and Street to School is an initiative geared towards equipping the street dwellers with skills and formal education.

“Feeding people every day is not the best way of life”, the best way of life according to Big Godwin Martey “is to empower them themselves to be able to take care of themselves and even help other people also help themselves to create a chain reaction”.
This is why street to school was introduced so “when we come to love on the streets like this we identify people, kids or adolescents who want to go back to school but because of circumstances, they are on the street either begging or hawking or using wipers to clean screens.
“So as I speak to you, we have currently a case of a 21-year-old Muslim called Fayilatu that we identified on the street in our last edition of love on the street. In fact, she had an accident and had a dental dislocation so we had to get her for surgery. We paid for the surgery and she is currently going through post-surgery recovery. The next thing after her recovery is to get her back to school. As for her, we have given her full scholarship,” Mr Martey revealed.
He further explained after identifying such children they make sure that all the legal requirements are met before they can be enrolled back in school.
“We don’t just pick them and put them to school immediately because there are legal implications and all that. We need to find out their parents, we need to get their consent and get their academic record and verify their academic records and find out dream the child has and what kind of school the child wants to go to and whether or not he/she qualifies,” he explained.
