There are enough reasons to celebrate when you enter your second half-century. Forget about “over the hill parties”, those have become cliché. Fifty is no longer what it used to be; it is time to celebrate and have a good time. If a person has spent 50 years on this earth and when they reach that birthday milestone, there is a definite cause for celebration. Some cultures believe that reaching age 50 is an age that deserves special and respectful attention. In recognition of these facts, friends and family, especially, members of the Okuapeman Fekuw in Chicago, organized a special surprise birthday party in honor of one of their members, Joyce Ntow. The party took place at Round Lake Beach Illinois.
The celebrant was aware that she was attending a friend’s birthday party with her family so she did not anticipate that the revel was hers! She walked into the room and was greeted with shouts of “surprise” whilst happy “birthday lyrics” blasted out of the speakers in the background. In attendance were the President of the Ghana National Council of Metropolitan Chicago,Paa Kwasi Sam and his wife, Juliana Sam; Nana Yirenkyi Bonsu, Chief of the Okuapeman Fekuw; Nana Atta Darko, Ohemaa Adjoa Tawiah Eburamea , Mmabaahemea of Okuapeman Fekuw Chicago; members of the Okuapeman Association , friends and family of the celebrant.
The Ntow and Nartey families express their sincerest thanks to all who made Joyce Ntow’s birthday a memorable and special one. The lenses of www.sankofaonline.com were there to capture these images for our worldwide audience.
