Privileges Committee suspends sitting over objections from Ken Agyapong’s lawyers

The Parliamentary committee examining alleged contemptuous comments by Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong, suspended sitting on Tuesday following objections raised by Mr. Agyapong’s lawyers.

The first public sitting of the Privileges Committee of Parliament witnessed an abrupt end as the Committee received communication from some members who wanted to recuse themselves from the investigation into alleged contentious comments made by Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong.

Though he initially overruled making a decision on the said application by some members to abstain from the Committee’s work, the Chairman, Joseph Osei-Owusu said after the Clerk to the committee confirmed receiving the letter from the members, it was important to end the proceedings for a decision to be taken on it.
