Use of drones at health centers laudable – MoH

Public Relation Officer (PRO) for the Ministry of Health (MoH), Robert Kudjoe says the drone initiatives propounded by the Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is commendable.

“Using drones to distribute blood to various health centers would help save lives during emergency situations”, That’s according to Mr. Kudjoe.

Speaking on GBC’s Uniiq FM, Mr. Kudjoe emphasized that drones are used on several occasions in Ghana and therefore it would be effective if used in the health sector for good health delivery services. He continued that, a doctor from Rwanda used a drone to transfer blood to a colleague doctor to save the life of a patient during an emergency therefore the initiative by the Vice President should be commended by all.

Mr. Kudjoe argued that, the use of drones at health facilities would not stop the health centers from stocking blood.

The Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia in April announced the use of drones to distribute drugs and blood to health centers to save lives. The initiative was to start in September this year but at a recent forum, the Vice President said the activity will be fully operational in 2019.
