Final Funeral Rites For The Late Fred Abeasi Vaughn….A

May 19 2019 , Chicago Illinois: The crowded summer activities on weekends in Chicagoland continued unabated with funerals, outdooring , engagement, wedding and birthday celebrations. Not withstanding the numerous activities almost 300 members of the community showed up to celebrate the life of the late Fred Abeasi Vaughn at 4910 S. Martin Luther King Drive. Fred Abeasi Vaughn was the brother of Betty Agyeman and husband of Alice Arthur ( A.K.A Cee), all living in Chicago. He is survived by two sons, Nana Djan Abeasi Vaughn and Justin Vaughn; 10 siblings and the widow, Alice Arthur (Cee).
Fred was an avid drummer and member of the popular Kofi Ghanaba (Guy Warren) Band. The popularity of Ghanaba’s Band took him to various countries and cities around the world to perform at functions. In 1972 when he landed in the USA on one of such visits, he decided to relocate and live in Chicago Illinois.
The President of the Ghana National Council of Metropolitan Chicago, Paa Kwasi Sam, was there to represent the council and the community. Other attendees of the event includes, Naa Issa Samori , President, Council of the ceremonial chiefs in Chicago and Chief of the Northern Union; Nana Yirentsi Bonsu, Ohemaa Akosua Pokua of Okuapeman Association and their elders; Nana Addae Baffour and Ohemaa Amponsah ,of the Asanteman Association and their elders; Nii Akonfrah I and Naa Amachoe Ablade, of the Ga-Dangme Community Organization and their elders and Nana Afua Dansoa, (Gladys Darkwa Tackey-Otoo)Fante Benevolent Society, Mr. Martin Bonsu, an elder in the Ghanaian Community.
Deejay Sam Pee kept attendees on the dance floor all night long with excellent selections from his arsenal. The event was emceed by ace emcee, Nana Yaw Marfo.
