The Minister of Youth and Sports, Isaac Asiamah has cut the sod for the construction of a Multipurpose Youth Complex at Wa in the Upper West Region.
The seven million Ghana Cedi project is expected to be completed and inaugurated by the President in nine months barring any unforeseen circumstances.
The youth complex, which will contain facilities of international standards, is the 8th of its kind in the country.
It is designed to have a FIFA standard pitch, Olympic sized athletic track, a gym, a court for all handball disciplines and a counseling centre.
The Minister for Youth and Sports, Isaac Asiamah, expressed hope that the youth of the region will take advantage of the complex to develop their talents.
He said since the Upper West Region is known to produce long distance runners; the sports complex along with its trainers will help the region produce many more athletes.
Mr Asiamah said all Regional Youth Authority Offices will be financed and tasked to ensure the facilities are not left to rot.
The Minister of Youth and Sports is expected to cut the sod for the commencement of same projects in Navrongo and Yendi in the coming days.
