She polled 78% of the total valid votes cast to beat her contender Dr. Anthony Adade who had 22% in the exercise, Asempanews.com can confirm.
Her victory comes as no surprise to members considering her immense contribution to the New Patriotic Party, NPP, during the 2016 electioneering campaign to get the party in power.
“I always knew she will turn out to be the winner of the elections as she has been neck deep involved in the struggle to move the party forward by exhibiting leadership in a lot of ways,” a member who pleaded anonymity told this reporter.
Per members’ estimation, a candidate besides excellence academic qualifications, must exhibit other equally important qualities and attributes such as loyalty to the party, dedication, and commitment to party duties, and above all have a track record of political activism to emerge winner.
Obaa Amponsah Frimpong, according to our sources, has been a known voice within the rank and file of the NPP USA branch and her dedication to the cause of the NPP has been described as unquestionable.
“Obaa Yaa never missed out on any of the branch’s events regardless of where it was held. She was part of many demonstrations that was held against the then incompetent Mahama government in Washington DC and New York City.”
“When duty called in Ghana, Obaa Yaa Frimpong was there. She helped to lead the mobilized diasporans to effectively discharge their duties to the party before, during and after the 2016 elections. The presence of Obaa Yaa as always felt in NPP-USA was equally felt in Ghana during the elections,” one of her ardent followers, Kwame Kyeretwie-Amponsah said.
Shortly after the declaration, her supporters mobbed the newly elected NPP-USA Chairperson who seized the moment to thank and assure the teeming members of her full commitment to duty to take the party to greater heights.
