The former Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa Legislator said Mr. Amidu’s fight against corruption makes him worthy of that honour.

The former AG has successfully won two judgment debt cases which inure to the benefit of the State.

The first was a unanimous ruling by the Supreme Court which ordered foreign company Waterville (BVI) Holdings, to return to Ghana some 25 million euros it received as judgment debt in breach of a purported contract.

A little over a week after that victory, the same Supreme Court, again unanimously ruled on Friday June 21, 2013 that Spanish company ISOFOTON SA should revert to the Government of Ghana, the cedi equivalent of $325, 497 which was paid to the company as judgment debt.

The Executive Director of anti-graft body, Ghana Integrity Initiative – local chapter of Transparency International – has suggested that Mr. Amidu be rewarded with a fraction of the retrieved judgment debts.

There have also been calls on President Mahama to reinstate Mr. Amidu, who was dismissed as Attorney General in the Mills Administration.

P. C. Appiah-Ofori told XYZ News on Friday that “ I have taken a decision that if by the grace of God the supreme court case end’s in favor of Nana Akufo Addo I will recommend that he reinstates martin Amidu as the Attorney General even though he is a member of the NDC”.
