The Electoral Commission has dismissed rumours that it has imported special pens for Wednesday’s polls.
According to the election management body, claims on social media that some unique kind of pens with indelible erasers are going to be used for the polls are false and must be disregarded.
Rumours are rife among supporters of the main opposition New Patriotic Party and on social media that the special pens and erasers are part of plans by the commission and the ruling government to rig the elections.
But addressing the media Tuesday, chairperson of the commission Charlotte Osei said the claims are malicious and have no basis.
“It is not true that we have brought in any special kind of pens and erasers for the polls. Those reports are not true and must be ignored”.
Mrs Osei also advised the media to be circumspect and cross-check every information they gather before putting it out in the public domain.
