The Ghana Union Traders Association has decried the high rate of duty at the ports of entry.
The President of GUTA, George Ofori said this when the flagbearer of the NPP, Nana Akufo Addo conferred on the leadership of the Association at its Headquarters in Accra.
The meeting was to sell the party’s policy on trade to the Association which the NPP considers vital in the management of the economy.
Mr Ofori expressed regret about the influx of foreigners on the retail business.
He said the practice is unacceptable and it is killing indigenous businesses.
GUTA also raised issues with high electricity tariffs and fuel.
Former Trade Minister, Alan Kyeremanteng said the NPP will restore fiscal discipline in the macro economy.
