CHICAGO – A 22-year-old aspiring rapper was killed in a shooting on the Eisenhower Expressway Thursday morning.

Johnathon Ortiz, who was better known by his stage name “John Doe,” was shot in the westbound lanes near Laramie at about 5:30 a.m.

His girlfriend, 22 year-old Alexis Garcia, was critically wounded, and is being treated at Stroger Hospital.

Relatives say the two were going to breakfast.

The Illinois Department of Transportation shut down for hours the outbound Eisenhower between California and Central during the morning-rush, so police could investigate and look for shell casings. The expressway has since reopened.
