Chicago August 28 2016: Young people are not only the future of any organization, they are the present! No wonder the Church of the Ghanaian Community of Chicago, CGCC, instituted an annual youth day celebrations coupled with other youth programs for the future sustenance and growth of the Church. On a youth day, the youth in the church take control of all aspects of the service for the day. Led by their Sunday School Teacher, Akua Agyeman, the youth lead the praises and worship, do announcements, recite Bible Verses, Preach , entertain the congregation with selections of hymns and many others.
Today’s service was led by 7-year-old Solomon Agyeman-Badu with brilliance. The Preacher was Kofi Bugyei. Preaching on the Theme “ Back to school with God” Kofi started by asking his peers to go back to school with God in their lives. He noted that by listening to their Teachers, Principals, Parents, counselors and Sunday school Teachers, they will excel. He quoted Ephesians chapter 6:7 to buttress his point that as children they need to obey their Parents because that is the right thing to do. He asked his generation not to give in to negative peer pressure and encouraged them to keep God at the center of their lives.
The Service also included a youth presentation where Sunday School students, including Andrew Tetteh, Charles Tetteh, Efua Bugyei, and Noah Agyeman-Badu shared what they learned throughout the year and a musical selection. The youth ministry put up a great church service and we look forward to what the future holds for our children!
