Afoko condemns attack at NPP HQ

Suspended national chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Paul Afoko has condemned the attack at the party’s national headquarters.

Faceless people suspected to be supporters of Afoko ransacked some of the offices within the headquarters at Asylum Down, Accra during the wee hours of Monday.

According to reports, the private security firm that guards the office – the Invisibles – were not present when the incident happened Monday dawn.

Several offices in the building were also locked after it was ransacked making it impossible for members to get access to their offices.

In a statement, Afoko, who described himself as the ‘National Chairman’ said he has “learnt with dismay the incidents at the party headquarters, and on the party’s parliamentary candidate for the Klottey Korley Constituency, Nii Noi Nortey.”

Afoko condemns in “no uncertain terms” these incidents and describes same as dents on the party’s image, the statement signed by his spokesperson Nana Yaw Osei said.

According to him, reports of weapons having been found at the party headquarters is “even more worrying.”

These developments are distasteful especially at a time Mr. Afoko is challenging the constitutional breaches some party members have persistently engaged in, it added.

Afoko called on the security agencies to “thoroughly investigate these incidents and get to the bottom of the matter.”
