June 21 2015 Chicago IL: Father’s Day is a day to honor all the fathers for everything they did for their families. It is also an occasion to express gratitude towards fathers for all their love and support. Not only was Sunday June 21 2015 was Father’s Day, it also marked the first day of summer in the Northern Hemisphere. In Chicagoland, many took the opportunity to celebrate the day in Churches whilst others spent the day in parks, back yards etc. barbecuing. Members of the Church of the Ghanaian Community of Chicago commemorated the day with a special service. The Preacher was Emmanuel Blankson, Elder at the Apostolic Church of God, 6320 South Dorchester Ave. Chicago, Illinois 60637. He doubles as a Financial Planner and has been working with Primerica since 1985.Elder Emmanuel Blankson’s Sermon dwelled on the Theme “The Lost Son”. He urged Fathers to love their children unconditionally as the father of the Prodigal son in the Holy Bible loved his son; even after squandering the portion of his fortune on riotous lifestyle. He asked children to stay away from drugs when he said that “Children who drink alcohol may gradually go on to smoke and do illicit drugs that may ruin their lives”. He asked fathers to love their wives and likened it to his own marriage by saying “I have loved my wife for 37 years, I do not have 37 more years to love another woman”.
