MODEC sacks 18 Ghanaian workers

Oil Company MODEC has dismissed 18 of its local staff, Starr News can report.

A dismissal letter cited by Starr News indicates that the workers have been put on a redundancy list by management of the company, citing changes in organisational structure as a reason for the action.

Hundreds of the workers on the vessel recently threatened to strike over attempts to dismiss 28 of their colleagues by the management.

The National Labour Commission (NLC), however, intervened and asked the aggrieved parties to go back to the negotiation table.
