According to the Nana Akufo Addo, the country is far from achieving economic growth due to corruption and profligacy and urged the president to institute policies that will promote national development.
He made the remarks to Citi News after the 58th celebration of Ghana’s Independence Day commemoration at the independence Square.
“Eliminating corruption and waste, bringing our country back to macro economic stability, forming the correct set of policies and this is what will bring our country back to the path of growth,” he said.
Nana Akufo Addo reiterated that Ghana was a country of enormous potential and added that “cut out waste, cut out profligacy, cut out corruption and bring back stability to the management of our economy”.
He also challenged Presiden Mahama to act on the various commitments he made in his address to the nation during the independence celebration.
“We have reached a state in our history where it is the action and policy that matter. What matters is not so much the words but the actions and policies that will follow the words,” he stated.
