The Ghana FA is hoping to capture Athletic Bilbao discovery Inaki Williams to play for the Black Stars.
Williams, 20, has a Ghanaian father and a Liberian mother but was born and bred in Spain.
He is eligible to play for all three countries and recently shot to fame with his outstanding form at San Mamés.
“Inaki [Williams] is a revelation in Bilbao and we have plans of pursuing him,” GFA president Kwesi Nyantakyi said at a press conference.
Black Stars coach Avram Grant described Williams as “a good player.”
“The door will always be opened for new players but the players at the Afcon will be the base of the team – about 60-70% of the team,” he added.
Williams, who made his La Liga debut in December 2014, has hinted he may want to play for Spain.
