Kwasi Kyei Darkwah will not interfere with Police investigations into an alleged sexual assault case filed against him by a 19-year-old girl, his Counsel Nana Asante Bediatuo has told Starr FM’s Kobby Gomez-Mensah in an interview Monday.
Bediatuo cited his client’s non-interference posture as one of the factors which could inure to his favour as far as securing bail for him is concerned.
He believes the ace broadcaster has “a strong case for bail”.
“The circumstances, the facts as they are now compared to the allegations, the fact that when we are talking about bail it’s not about a person’s guilt, it’s rather the presumption of innocence and the fact that the court can secure his attendance at Court…” Bediatuo explained, are the factors that give him confidence of securing bail for his client.
KKD who has been in the custody of the Airport Police Command since Saturday night is being prepared for his first court appearance in the case.
The Police have told Starr FM that they will ensure they do not violate the fashion icon’s rights since the law requires that a suspect is not held for more than 48 hours without being taken to court.
The 49-year-old father of two has not denied having sex with the 19-year-old girl, whose name has been given as Effe, but he has refuted claims that he sexually assaulted the young lady.
