The Chicago Police The northbound and southbound lanes of Lake Shore Drive were closed between the Wilson and Foster exits this afternoon as police investigated a suspicious object found in the Uptown neighborhood, officials said.
The package was discovered near Lake Shore Drive and Lawrence Avenue, police said. Police were called to the area at 11:52 a.m. but the object was not found until 12:50 p.m., police said.
Aerial footage showed a robot deployed by police approaching and clutching what appeared to be a blue bag. Another robot was deployed and pulled out what looked like a blue sleeping bag.
Around 2:15 p.m., police had a dog check the bags and then removed them from the road.
No injuries were reported.
