President John Mahama has met with the clergy at Flagstaff House to discuss how to restructure the National Fasting, Prayer and Thanksgiving Day. The meeting has become necessary because participation of churches and individuals in the event usually held at the Black Star Square has reduced considerably.
In the interim, the General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana Reverend Dr. Opuni Frimpong has been charged to chair a committee that will in two weeks come up with a report on how to make the day take on a national face.
Among the senior clergymen who attended the breakfast meeting were Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, the General Overseer of the Christian Action Faith Ministries; Rev. Dr Ampiah Kwofie, the General Overseer of the Global Revival Ministries, and Rt Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Asante, the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church of Ghana.
